Robert T. Hissong, P.E.

Robb joined Kohli & Kaliher in 1999, bringing with him over 10 years of experience in land surveying and civil engineering. His land surveying experience began by working 3 summers during college as a rod man and instrument man in a survey crew for a private firm. This provided the foundation for working as a survey crew chief after graduation. Robb has experience in many aspects of land surveying including topographic surveys, construction layout staking for site development and highways, boundary surveys, legal description writing, survey drawing preparation, and topographic map development. His engineering experience includes water distribution system studies, water treatment plant designs, pump selection, report writing, shop drawing review, commercial and residential site plan design, subdivision design, roadway design and plan preparation, pumped septic system design, and site inspection.

As Design Engineer, Robb has applied his acquired skills to a variety of projects at Kohli & Kaliher such as commercial site layout, commercial site plan design, construction plan preparation for wastewater, storm water and water distribution projects, and bridge design. For over 9 consecutive years, he has specialized in bridge replacement projects. He utilizes AutoCAD, MicroStation, CONSPAN LA, and a variety of other engineering and surveying software in design and analysis. He designs prestressed concrete I-beam superstructures, both composite and noncomposite prestressed concrete box beam superstructures, retaining walls, various types of abutments and piers, drilled shaft foundations, roadway, horizontal and vertical alignments, culverts and other drainage, and other items as necessary to complete the construction plans. In addition, he calculates bridge hydraulics, performs flood hazard evaluations, prepares cost estimates, reviews beam shop drawings, checks plans, and has performed construction inspection of drilled shafts. His most notable experience is as Design Engineer for three of the bridges on Ohio Department of Transportation's DEF-24-7.96 project: U.S. 24 over West High Street, U.S. 24 over Tiffin River, and S.R. 15/18 over U.S. 24.
