After graduating from college in 2003, he came to work for the company full time. With a degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in surveying, he has had the opportunity to work in both the design engineering and surveying departments.
As a Design Engineer / Computer Aided Draftsman, Ian has been involved in developing Bridge and Highway Construction plans for ODOT, area counties, and cities. He has specialized in design and analysis of steel beam / girder superstructures; prestressed reinforced concrete beam superstructures; multiple types of abutment and pier substructures; steel pile and drilled shaft foundations; and all aspects of roadway design. He has also become proficient in flood hazard evaluation i.e. hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, storm sewer design, and culvert design. During design he utilizes Microstation V8, GeoPak, AutoCadd, Eagle Point, ConSpan LA, Retain Pro, Hydraflow, Heastead Methods, Hec-Ras, and other various types of software for production and analysis. While working as a crewman, he has acquired experience in the surveying field as well. He has been involved in topographical surveys, property surveys, right-of-way surveys, and construction staking. He has ran several brands of total stations as the rod man and base operator, conducted horizontal and vertical control circuits, and located existing drainage and sanitary systems. He has been involved in preparing right-of-way, boundary, and site plans and developing existing and finished contours. |
